Abstract

Abstract

Based on the collected and coincident data between Jason-1 altimeter and buoy observations,a two-parameter wind speed model with altimeter-derived backscatter and significant wave height (SWH,H_sw) is developed.Besides,a feasibility study of using automatic gain control (AGC) to replace σ₀ is explored.The experiment results show that the inversion accuracy of σ₀-H_sw model is 0.3 m/s.The inversion accuracy of AGC-SWH model is lower(1.3 m/s).By Using cross calibration,the accuracy improves 0.9 m/s.It is a significant reference for "HY-2" that AGC-SWH inverses wind speed by cross calibration.
