In the paper, a distribution function for wind wave heights is empirically prcsented.It involves, in addition to a shalowness factor, the parameteter describing the stage of wind wave growth. Some diagrams facilitating the, use of the distribution are also given. Comparison between the distribution proposed in the paper and some other existing ones are made by using field data.It is found that the distribution estabished here is in better agreement with the observations than Rayleigh and Glukovsky distributions.
