DETERMINATON OF JOINT DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION OF WAVE PERIODS AND HEIGHTS OF THE SHALLOW SEA
Wu Xiujie, Guo Hongmei, Zhao Binglai, Guo Quanhui
1981, 3(4): 517-522.
Abstract:
Based on the theory of probability,an analytical-function of the joint distribution of gave periods and heights of the shallow sea is empirically esta using continuous wave records of the shallow sea and some experimental data obtained from wave channel. For the convenience of use relevant diagrams are constructed in this paper. The results are satisfactory and in reasonable agreement with sonue of the observed records and the data used by engineers.
THE WINTER SURFACE TEMPERATURE PATTERN OF THE HUANGHAI SEA AND THE EAST CHINA SEA DERIVED FROM THE GMS-l AND NOAA-5 SATELLITEIR IMAGES
Zheng Quanan
1981, 3(4): 523-534.
Abstract:
The images taken from several meteorological satellites form an important data source in the field of "oceanography from space".The image from the meteorological satellite IR band taken on a cloudless day provides information on the sea surface temperature field. But the raw BWIR images received directly by ground stations show little difference among grey levels of the sea and unsuitableness for plotting sea surface isotherms. With a Phosdac 1000 digital culour analyzer, the writer processed the images of the Japanese Geostationarp Meteorological Satellite GMS-1 IR band (10.5-12.6μ) and those of the U.S.Meteorological Satellite NOAA-5 IR band (10.5-12.5μ) to emphasize the informations of the sea surface temperature (SST) which are then taken as a basis to plot sea surface isotherms.
SMOOTH-AVERAGED SOUND FIELD IN SHALLOW WATER
Zhang Renhe
1981, 3(4): 535-545.
Abstract:
In this paper, the smooth-averaged sound field in the shallow water is treated without considering the fine interference structure. The two depth-smooth methods are used:all-depth average and envelope-smooth.
EFFECT OF CIRCULATION LOW LATITUDES ON THE WEATHER OF MIDDLE LATITUDES——THE IDEA OF MID-RANGE AND SHORT-RANGE FORECASTS OF RAINSTORMS
Xie Yibing (Hsieh Yiping), Zhang Tan, Jiang Shangcheng
1981, 3(4): 546-553.
Abstract:
There is a close relation between the circulations of the low latitudes over the ocean as well as their. variations and precipitation in China.Rainstorms and droughts which often cause disasters are two extreme cases of precipitation. Therefore it is practically and theoretically significant to forecast both of them. A series of analyses on the predominant rainstorms processes in mid-summer in North China were made from 1975 to 1977[1,2],and the method was used.As a consequence, a preliminary conclusion has been reached.
THE MEDIUM-RANGE OSCILLATION IN PRESSURE OVER THE PACIFIC TROPICAL REGION AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LARGE-SCALE CIRCULATION AND GENERATING GROUPS OF TYPHOONS
Wang Jingyi, Zhang Tan
1981, 3(4): 554-562.
Abstract:
The synoptic map of the surface and 700mb and satellite cloud pictures over the Pacific tropical region during 1973-1978 is studied in this paper. In this region, there is a medium range oscinanon in pressure similar to that over the middle-high latitude region for a period of about 4-6 weeks. This paper discussis the mediums-range oscillation with large-scale circulation and generation of group of typhoons, thus providing a method of forecast medium-range of typhoons in this region. finally we use a curve of change in pressure index to demonstrate this cycle, in order that the cycle can be seen clearly.
CHEMISTRY OF-MARINE RESOURCES Ⅰ. AN INORGANIC CHEMISORBENT FOR DIRECT RECOVERY OF IODINE FROM SEA WATER
Sun Yushan, Zhao Hongben, Chen Dechang, Tang Siqi, Liu Xiangzhen
1981, 3(4): 563-570.
Abstract:
This paper presents the chemical-adsorption behavior of crystalline grains of silver chloride used as a new type(i.e.,JA-2 type) chemisorbent of low concentration iodide ion in sea water. This is a new method of direct recovery of iodine from sea water.
A KINETIC STUDY OF THE EXTRACTION OF URANIUM FROM SEA WATER BY TITANIC GEL Ⅱ. DEDUCTION OF THE ADSORPTION MECHANISM
Chen Song, Liao Wenzuo, Huang Xuanbao, Tang Jinlong
1981, 3(4): 571-579.
Abstract:
Mainly based upon the effects of.the surrounding conditions (temperature, pH value and concentration of HCO3) of sea water on extraction of uranium by titanicgel, together with the calculations on the related thermodynamic equilibriums,it is considered that there exist the following eailibriums in the sea water.
DETERMINATION OF TRACE MERCURY IN SEA WATER BY COOL ATOMIC FLUORESCENCE PHOTOMETRY
Lu Saiying, Niu Junhao, Tong Junan
1981, 3(4): 581-588.
Abstract:
The paper presents a method of measuring mercuryy using YYG-77 cool atomic vapour fluorimeter. The sample and reagents are injected into an airtight system and the reducer is also modified, and thus queaching of fluoresa:ence and external contamination caused by entering air can be eliminated.
THE FORMATION AND EVOLUTION OF THE OKINAWA TROUGH
Lu Yingxian
1981, 3(4): 589-600.
Abstract:
The Okinawa Trough is a young, long and narrow marginal basin in the convergent zone on the northwest edge of the Pacific Ocean Plate, In this paper it is shown that the Okinawa Trough first experienced depression, then faulting and spreading, on the basis of the data obtained from the sea floor topograph, the sediment composition, the characteristics of gravity and magnetic anomalies, the profiles from reflection and refraction seismic survey, the distribution of the volcanoes and earthquake focuses in the Trough, and the geological and geophysical data obtained from both sides of the Trough—the Ryukyu Island Arc and the continental shelf marginal upfold zone.
WHENCE COMES THE HIGH SEA-LEVEL DURING THE HOLOCENE?
Xia Dongxing
1981, 3(4): 601-609.
Abstract:
The paper deals with the controversy among the scholars in the world about whether there existed a higher world wide sea-level during the middle Holocene. Especially in recent years quite a few Chinese scholars have insisted that during the Atlantic age, the world wide sea-level was higher than that of the present, but the author holds opposite opinion about this question.

Abstract:
This is the first part of a series of papers dealing with Syllidae of the China Coasts. It comprises 7 species of Exogoninae, of which 4 species Exogone verugerca (Claparede),Sphaerosyllis hystrix Claparède, Sphaerosyllis piriferd Claparède and Sphaerosyllis hirsuta Ehlers are for the first time recorded from the China Coasts.
DETERMINATION OF LAMINARAN IN BROWN ALGAE BY GLUCOSE OXIDASE, PEROXIDASE AND DIANISIDINE METHOD
Zhao Xuewu, wang Zuoyun
1981, 3(4): 629-633.
Abstract:
Glucose oxidase, peroxidase and dianisidine method may be used to determine laminaran in brown algae. Its procedure was that the seaweed was hybrolyzed and filtrated, then 0.5 ml of filtrate(the concentration of glucose should be from 0.05 mg to 0.25 mg per ml) was added to a test tube and 5ml of an enzyme reagent (22.4 mg glucose oxidase, 0.56 mg peroxidase, 1.2 mg dianisidine citrate, 2 mg citric acid monohydrate and 12 mg sodium citrate dihydrate) was added. The tube was shaken and held for 30 min at 38℃. Then 0.5 ml 1:1 HCl was added. The color was read at 400nm by spectrophotomter. It was found that the relative standard deviation was 2.44%.The seaweed need hydrolysis by 1 N HCl befere it was used. The accuracy of determination was not interfered by the hydrolysis products.

A DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION FOR WIND VAVE HEIGHTS WITH PARAMETER OF WAVE GROWTH STAGE
Huang Peiji, Zhao Binglai, Liu Laichen, Pu Shuzhen
1981, 3(4): 639-654.
Abstract:
In the paper, a distribution function for wind wave heights is empirically prcsented. It involves, in addition to a shalowness factor, the parameteter describing the stage of wind wave growth. Some diagrams facilitating the, use of the distribution are also given. Comparison between the distribution proposed in the paper and some other existing ones are made by using field data.It is found that the distribution estabished here is in better agreement with the observations than Rayleigh and Glukovsky distributions.
